Christmas has come and gone

Where did the time go?
With Adam, Leah & Malena - & visits & shopping, and LOTS of Holiday food.
The decorations are away and the diet has started... ok - well maybe tomorrow ;)

CERT Active Shooter Training

Yesterday I volunteered for the CERT training in the Education building on campus. The simulation was an active shooter in the building... looking for the Dean. He shot off 22 rounds of a .38 on all 4 floors. It was interesting to hear the difference when he was on the opposite end of the building from where I was, on the 2nd floor stairwell, the shot just sounded like a book dropping or someone shaking a heavy mat.

Most people in the building barricaded themselves in locked offices, a few tried to evacuate the building. We met afterward to debrief. The whole exercise took 8 mins. After the first 2 mins, a USU police officer took out the perp... but for the exercise, he kept going so we could hear it on every floor.

The best way to prepare for emergencies, is to practice and keep a cool head.
Can't wait for the next training!

New Phone!

After 10 years of being a T-Mobile customer, I made the switch to Verizon (family plan). I won't lie, it's been the best move ever! Not only do I have unlimited messaging, but I have signal in my office! (I can't tell you how frustrating it was to hear my phone ring and not be able to answer it because it didn't have enough signal when I turned it on... or have to run outside to place a call.)
Plus the new phone I selected is super cool! It has a qwerty keyboard and speakers. There's still a lot of features to learn about... but I'm having a great time!

I wonder how long it will last.... I'm not holding my breath, but I'm thankful for a small reprieve!

PPaz did the funniest thing this morning. I'm used to seeing her her drink out of the tap... but today she was drinking from the windows!

Last night was Chore Night: Dishes, Laundry, & a few small home improvement projects including hanging new towel racks (from IKEA!) It was funny to turn around and find my little helper distracted with the box. (I thought it was adorable!)

I know, I know... I've turned in that crazy ole cat lady who get's her kicks off of every little thing the cat does. (Hey, but at least I'm having fun!)

Christmas a month early

I went to SLC Saturday to visit Wenda and her family. We enjoyed an early Christmas!

5 year old Riley loved all of her gifts and started using them immediately.

Any they let me pick out a cat tree. Needless to say, PPaz love her new perch!

I lost her last night, I checked all of her favorite hiding places, and low and behold, she was hiding in the bottom of her new toy.

Ok - so these aren't the best pictures, but she wouldn't hold still and I couldn't figure out how to change the speed of my camera.
